Giraffe
The giraffe lives in the dry, open brush country of Africa.
It is the tallest of all animals sometimes growing to heights of 18
or 19 feet. A full-grown man can stand upright between a giraffe's
front legs. Their long necks and great height allow them to feed
on the upper branches of acacia trees, their favorite food.
Able to run up to 32 miles per hour in open country, this swift and
peaceful animal never hurts anything or anyone unless defending its
own life. Its spotted fur helps hide the animal when in danger.
The giraffe uses its keen eyesight to spot its only natural enemy,
the lion. When forced to fight, it will use its head to butt with
and sharp hooves to kick its enemies.
